Victor Barnes early life wasn’t a pleasant one. He grew up in the slums of Lotanzin the largest city in an otherwise unnoticeable planet in an uninteresting system. His mother had died giving birth to him and His father was a shell of man he was in the wake of her death. He turned to all sorts of things to numb the pain and Victor just kind of got lost in the middle. Victor was forced to fend for himself more often than not, luckily he was able to get by, sometimes it wasn’t always the legal way but he did what he had to. One of the few things his dad did give him was a love of flying. Victor felt alive behind the controls of a speeder and those few times in control of a ship. It didn’t take Victor long to realize if he didn’t want to end up like his dad and everyone else on that godforsaken planet he needed to get out and make something of himself. He was able to convince a captain of a transport ship Warren Flint to hire him on as a copilot and overall lackey. He loved the chance to get off planet and see some of the verse he wasn’t concerned with what he would be doing on the ship as long as he was somewhere else. He really didn’t care for the crew, or the ship, or taking orders for that matter but he endured always hoping his chance for greatness was on the next mission. It became evident rather quickly that the crew Vic had associated himself with where not good men. Vic was no boy scout but there were more than a few times he didn’t agree with the captain or crew. Vic wasn’t shy about voicing his objection which had its own consequences. More than a few times he let his mouth get him into trouble. Vic found himself in a tough position, he could really leave the ship because he didn’t have anywhere to go and home wasn’t somewhere he wanted to see again, as luck would have it fate was going to give Vic the opportunity he was looking for. The Lone Renegade and her crew were hired to pick up some cargo from another ship and get it to client somewhere in deep space. Simple stuff, only as it turned out that pick up the cargo was code for rip off another ship and that ship happened to be the Shangri -La. Needless one long series of chases in several systems, plenty laser fire and one crash that wasn’t Vic’s fault at all and he was staring down the barrel of a blaster from one Arleigh Mitchell. His crew had abandoned him like the assholes they were and left him for dead, leaving Victor to answer to Arleigh and his at the time crew about their stole cargo. Mitchell told Vic to stand aside and he could live and he was lucky to get that. Vic knew he had to go for broke or end up stranded on planet. He said the captain was in desperate need of a new pilot and the Vic could be the man for the job. To this day Vic doesn’t know what made the captain say yes, maybe he though Victor had balls, or he just felt sorry for him either way Vic didn’t get shot and had a new home and a new job. He immediately had a lot of respect for the captain. Granted that didn’t mean Victor didn’t loudly voice his disagreement of the captain from time to time but overall he got along just fine.
